Addiction to power is one of my great afflictions. I want to control people, to bend them to my will, to make them think and act like I do. Most of us are the walking realizations of our inner fears. How we behave is connected to the insecurities that drive us. Even our belief systems can be the product of our existential fears. But Christ has shown us a better way to be. Our work, as those being formed into the image and likeness of Christ, is to allow our addiction to power, control, and manipulation be swallowed up in the patience and kindness of God. The only control human beings were created to take part in is self control, and even then we must let kindness and mercy lead the way.

All of this, and especially the last sentence.
Amen
